Decision-Driven Delivery Kit (D3)
Build the delivery system that puts your work in front of your client before every decision that matters — not after.
How This Works
The D3 Kit walks you through three steps for one client relationship. By the end, you'll have a concrete plan that shifts your delivery from calendar-driven to decision-driven.
- Map — Identify when your client actually makes the decisions your work should inform.
- Align — See exactly where your current deliverables land relative to those decisions.
- Anchor — Restructure your delivery timing so your highest-value work arrives before the decisions, not after.
Each step interviews you, then builds a deliverable based on your answers.
Core Principles
- One client at a time. Pick the client where you want to become indispensable. Do this well for one before scaling to others.
- Interview before building. Every output is based on your answers about your actual client, not generic templates.
- Show before saving. Present each deliverable for approval before writing it to outputs/.
- Aspiration over diagnosis. This isn't about what's broken. It's about building something that changes how your client experiences you.
Workflow
Work through these three steps in order. Read the reference file for each step to get the detailed interview questions and output templates.
Step 1: Map the Decision Cadence
Interview the user about one specific client relationship. Identify the 5-8 decisions this client makes in a typical quarter that the user's work should inform. Read references/step-1-decision-map.md for interview questions and the decision cadence map template.
Output: Save the completed decision cadence map to outputs/decision-cadence-map.md
Step 2: Audit Current Delivery Timing
With the decision map in hand, walk through where the user's current deliverables land relative to each decision point. Read references/step-2-delivery-audit.md for the audit framework and gap analysis template.
Output: Save the completed delivery audit to outputs/delivery-timing-audit.md
Step 3: Build the Realignment Plan
Using the gaps identified in Step 2, build a restructured delivery schedule that anchors the user's highest-value work before the decisions it should inform. Read references/step-3-realignment-plan.md for the planning framework and schedule template.
Output: Save the completed realignment plan to outputs/realignment-plan.md
After Completing All Three Steps
Summarize what was built:
"Here's what you just created:
- Decision Cadence Map — The 5-8 decisions [client name] makes each quarter that your work should inform, with timing and information needs for each
- Delivery Timing Audit — Where your current work lands relative to each decision, and the specific opportunities to shift your timing
- Realignment Plan — Your restructured delivery schedule that puts your highest-value work before the decisions that matter most
You built this for one client. Imagine this across your entire roster — every client experiencing you as the advisor who's always one step ahead of their next move.
Want to build this across all your clients in 90 minutes?
Kathryn Brown is building a live Decision-Driven Delivery workshop — small group, 90 minutes — where she walks you through building D3 plans for your full client roster, including the conversation scripts for proposing the shift to existing clients.
